Power in a Pond

lilies floating in a pond
their uniformity
creates a carpet of green
yet one pad has grown
double the size
a shade darker than its peers
resembling a frog
in its bloated state,
thinking it’s so great

two things can pass;
praise or push
for although lilies come
in various shades and forms
this one is a prince
assuming a king’s role

the lily must exhale
warm the others with its hot air
share but not gloat
for a lily will not float
if it’s like a balloon of lead

one fine day
another may be king
and remind that lily
of its non-regal traits,
that reality awaits

for the lilies it may meet
as it flows upstream
may also be there
when it drowns

Fitting in

When you enter this world and don’t fit in, it can be tough but I guess I’ve kind of got used to it over the years. So why is it that if your face doesn’t fit you’re seen as an outcast and rejected by society? Is it right to ostracise someone because they seem ‘weird’ to you? Perhaps before judging someone, people should consider what the person may have gone through in their life and issues they may have. People should also accept that everyone’s different and no one’s perfect. This is just one of my observations in life, witnessed especially during my experiences of living in various foreign countries. People tend to cluster together like lost sheep but if you ain’t the same colour you ain’t allowed in the flock. Not fitting in with society is possibly a good thing- it means you’re individual at least. Reasons for a narcissist's anger

Those of you who have encountered a narcissist will know that they have an inability to manage anger in a successful manner. You may have even called them out for their anger issues only to be met with a dismissive reply. Although we may be able to see their flaws, they are unfortunately unable to process and understand the reasons behind their angry outbursts. It’s very uncommon for a narcissist to take responsibility for the anger they display, instead they are blame shifters and will most likely blame the other person for the way that they feel rather than looking within themselves. EMDR - my experience

Over the past 4 months I’ve been having counselling sessions due to the fact that I’ve been involuntarily living in the past. The biggest trigger I have had to deal with has been mention of the abuser, which has often caught me unawares. For most of the year I have been on tenterhooks, wondering when the perpetrator’s name would be mentioned. Due to these common occurrences, I significantly lost confidence and had low self-esteem.           I’ve often wondered why the human body can heal itself from physical wounds whereas mental wounds are harder to heal. That’s why counselling of any kind is extremely beneficial and being in control of our mental health is very important. I am so grateful to my counsellor who suggested EMDR (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing).
